Description

Heroes of Ancient India has been illustrated and adapted by Bharat Das, from the book, Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, written by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada..

Long, long ago, an evil and powerful race of aliens, the Daityas, plotted from outer space to invade and take over the Earth. Using their mystic powers, they entered the wombs of the queens of all the ruling dynasties and were able to take control of the planet to carry out their diabolical plan. The Daityas so thoroughly oppressed the planet that Mother Earth herself (Bhumi Devi) tearfully prayed to Krishna, the supreme controller and Lord of the Universe, to relieve her of the burden. In response to her prayers, Krishna agreed to take birth in the illustrious Yadu Dynasty, along with many great heroes, to annihilate the demonic hordes.

The heroes who accompanied Lord Krishna were endowed with divine powers and unlike today’s so called heroes, were filled with noble qualities of honor, chivalry, courage, charity, and exceptional righteousness. Among these heroes were the invicible Arjuna, the greatest archer ever known, son of Indra, the Lord of the Heavens; Bheema, the all-powerful son of Vayu, who was blessed with the strenght of 10,000 elephants; and Yudhisthira, the ideal king and embodiment of righteousness and dharma(duty). These heroes of ancient Earth were trained in all the military arts and endowed with mystical weapons of extraordinary power. These weapons included the awesome astras, which could be launched with mantras and destroy entire worlds; subtle weapons that could paralyse whole armies; and water weapons so potent they could even counteract the terrible heat of the astras.

The greatest of all these heroes, the ultimate source of all strenght, opulence, fame, beauty, knowledge, and renunciation was known by many names: Purushottama, the Supreme Being; Yogeshvara, Master of all Mystics; Deva Deva, God of Gods; Jagapati, Lord of the Universe. But above all. He was Krishna, the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead.

The two stories contained here are from the ancient Puranas, the histories of these bygone ages. They tell the battles between the demonic Daityas and the exalted heroes of ancient Earth. Within these pages you will find timeless tales of romance, mystery, suspense, chivalry, awe-inspiring exploits and spine-chilling miracles that will attract the hearts and minds of people of all ages.
